The Keith Haring Foundation
Before his death, Keith Haring established a foundation in his name to maintain and enhance his legacy of giving to children's and AIDS organizations. UNICEF, Special Olympics, Best Buddies, the Children's Village, AMFAR, GMHC, and God's Love We Deliver are but a few of the organizations that have received funding and/or licensing rights to Haring's images. Throughout his career, Haring produced murals, sculptures and paintings to benefit hospitals, underprivileged children's groups and various community health organizations.
The Foundation is also committed to sustaining and expanding public awareness of Keith Haring and his artwork. By working with museums, galleries, publishers and arts education programs, the Foundation is able to provide information and artwork to the public that might otherwise remain unexplored in archives. To further broaden the audience for Haring, websites have been established, one designed specifically for children, which provide comprehensive biographical information, on-line exhibitions, interviews, and a calendar of current exhibitions. Please visit the web pages at www.haring.com and www.haringkids.com to learn more.
The Keith Haring Foundation, established by the artist in 1989, aids 501(c)3 exempt organizations and institutions which engage in charitable and educational activities, particularly those which assist and protect children and encourage them in developing their full potential, as well as organizations involved in education, public outreach and care related to AIDS. The Foundation also supports institutions that exhibit and make artworks created by Keith Haring available for viewing and study by academicians, scholars and the general public.
It is the goal of the Foundation to perpetuate and increase the public's awareness, understanding and appreciation of works created by Keith Haring through arranging exhibitions of his artwork and publishing his writings, drawings, paintings and other works in the form of books, films and other electronic media. Additionally, the Foundation seeks to educate the public about Keith Haring's work, and to raise awareness of the social causes to which he was dedicated.
